Gracie Barra has many Instructors that teach classes and others that take key roles that are essential to the success of our organization. To insure our students understand the titles, we have listed the hierarchy and responsibilities associated with them. 

 

Professor Gustavo Pires

2nd Degree Black Belt

Professor Gustavo Pires started his training in Brazilian Jiu- Jitsu at the age of 15, under the tutelage of Prof. Marcio Feitosa and Master Carlos Gracie Jr. Professor Gustavo is an active competitor defending the Gracie Barra name and traditions for more than a decade with many accomplishments. Professor Gustavo holds titles in the Pan-American Championships, Brazilian Nationals Championships.

He received his black belt in 2003 by none other than Master Carlos Gracie Jr. Besides his work as a great competitor in BJJ, Professor Gustavo began sharing his knowledge and experience by teaching in several different locations in Europe, Brazil and at the legendary Gracie Barra School in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Now Professor Gustavo is sharing that wealth of knowledge and experience with us here at Graice Barra Fullerton.

He has accomplished titles including:

Pan american Champion - 1998 , 1999 , 2002 and 2003
Brazilian teams Championship - second place 2006
World championship - Second place 1998 , third place 1999 and Second place 2000

American National No Gi - First place open class division 2009 , second place super heavy division

Andrew

Purple Belt

Andrew is a Purple Belt under Professor Maycon Carvalho. He started Jiu-Jitsu in 2008 and hasn’t stopped ever since. As a Purple Belt Andrew is the Instructor of the kid’s program. He loves to encourage and spread the love he has for Jiu-Jitsu to anyone of any age. He is an active competitor in most of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments in Southern California.

He has accomplished titles including:

1st Place- Las Vegas International Open Champion
1st Place- Gracie Nationals Champion
1st Place- Gracie Barra Tournament Champion
2nd Place- All Americas BJJ Tournament

Justin

Blue Belt 4 Stripes

 Justin has been training Brazilian Jiu- Jitsu since April of 2009 and is now a blue belt under Professor Maycon Carvalho. He is also an instructor here at Gracie Barra Fullerton teaching the Fundamental Classes and assisting with our Kids and Juniors Program.
