Hey guys we have a lot going to this week.

*This Saturday August 29th, we will be watching the UFC 102 once again together at Cantina Lounge in Fullerton. Cantina Lounge is all ages, so please feel free to bring your kids. Cantina Lounge is located at 2736 East Nutwood Ave in Fullerton, CA (right off the 57 Freeway)

*Starting September 6th GB Fullerton will be starting our Advanced classes for the white belt 3 stripes and up. For those who qualify please talk to Vaaruni or Paul for more details.
For people asking what is the advanced class?
Once you get the 3rd stripe of your white belt, you can move up to the Advanced Program, in addition to continued study in the Fundamentals Program. The 16-week Advanced Program curriculum focuses exclusively on learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with the Gi, and will allow you to further your study of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu grappling techniques.

In conjunction with the ground techniques, you will learn the major and most effective throwing techniques which will enable you to transition from the feet onto the ground. In addition, the Advanced Program is more than a series of isolated techniques – the curriculum includes a unique approach, which allows you to understand the links, combinations, and transitions between techniques, improving your reaction time and refining your skills. During the Advanced Program, you will discover strengths and weaknesses of your technical mastery, and begin to create your individualized Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu game.

GB Beach BBQ this Saturday

Our beach bbq is coming up. We will be meeting in Huntington Beach between the streets of Brookhurst/Magnolia (off of PCH). We will have a huge Gracie Barra tent set up before you guys come, so you won’t miss us. We will be meeting after class on Saturday 22nd @ 1:00 PM.

Please bring your favorite dish, snack or beverage as this is a pot luck. We hope you can all come and feel free to bring family members and friends. Any questions feel free to contact us.

We are approaching our 3rd meeting in our 8 week course. In just 2 meetings with over 30 participants we have come up with many great things. We have gone over some of the most basic but necessary teaching tools and concepts. We have also been asking questions to our participants such as ” What is the difference between a good and a great instructor?” We are taking this upcoming Friday off (8/21/09) and will resume next Friday (8/28/09) to discuss some more teaching tools and bring up some more questions like ” what are the goals of the head instructor?” Many Improvements are coming from these meetings and will soon benefit our entire GB family.

To all law enforcement professionals Gracie Barra Fullerton is proud to anounce we are now offering a 12 week Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program especially developed to meet the needs of law enforcement officers. In this program officers will have the chance to further and develop their abilities in hand to hand combat, weapon defenses, grappling skills, ground fight techniques, submissions etc. During the 12 week program officers will be able to utilize our regular BJJ classes, which are offered 6 days per week along with the special law enforcement classes.
This program offers a great opportunity for officers to add a highly effective self–defense technique that will be a big asset for their safety as well as their longevity in the law enforcement field.
